Rockdale County, Georgia
The Rockdale County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Conyers.
Geography
The County is located in north-central Georgia and has an area of 342 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Walton County, Newton County, Henry County, DeKalb County and Gwinnett County.
History
Rockdale County was formed as a 133 County in Georgia from portions of Henry County and Newton County on 18 October 1870. It was named after the Rockdale Church.

According to the census of 2000, there were 70 111 people in Rockdale County. Of these, 1,102 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants living in 24 052 households, and 18,880 families. The population density was 207 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 75.74 percent White, 18.22 percent Black or African American, 0.26 percent Native American, 1.91 percent Asian, 0.08 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 2.53 percent from other races groups; 1.26 percent were descended from two or more races. 5.96 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 24 052 households out of which 39.1 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 61.6 percent were married couples living together, 12.4 percent were single mothers and 21.5 percent were non-families. 16.9 percent of all households and 5.3 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.20 persons.
27.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.8 percent between 18 to 24, 30.5 percent between 25 and 44, 24.0 percent between 45 and 64, and 9.2 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 98.8 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.4 males.
The median income for a household was $ 53,599, and the median income for a family $ 60,065. Males have a median income of $ 41,087, women $ 29,189. The per capita income was $ 22,300. 5.7 percent of families and 8.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
