Action

Todd restored with the help of his grandfather, a Redstone rocket, together with Mercury capsule. At the same time this is a scientific school project, Todd performs with his girlfriend Sarah. After initial setbacks, a test run on the launch pad is successful, but NASA and the FBI want to set the project for safety reasons. Todd's grandfather decides to abandon the restoration of the rocket.

The in orbit contained Space Shuttle Endeavour is damaged by a meteor shower and can not return to Earth because the part you need is not on board. NASA decides then - as the only option - to launch a rescue mission with the museum- Mercury rocket. Only the ex- astronaut Gus and his grandson Todd are eligible as pilots. The rocket is transported to Vandenberg Air Force Base and prepared for the start. First, Gus is selected as the pilot of the capsule; as this short but gets out of the mission to fulfill his dream Todd, is his grandson pilot of the Mercury capsule.

Todd flying the spacecraft into Earth orbit to dock at the tentacle of the Space Shuttle. It was only at the second attempt the maneuver succeeds him; the space capsule is hoisted into the hold, and Todd passes the required spare part of the crew. Then Todd can fly back with the Mercury capsule. The re-entry into Earth's atmosphere succeeds, and the capsule floats on the parachute safely to the ground.
