Rockoon

A Rockoon (English from Rocket and Balloon) consists of a of a gas-filled balloon carried into the upper atmosphere and for practical reasons, usually equipped with solid propellant rocket. This, when the balloon has reached its maximum height, and fired separately from the balloon.
