Rockwell Collins Inc. is a U.S. company headquartered in Cedar Rapids, in the U.S. state of Iowa, which emerged in 2001 from the splitting of the conglomerate Rockwell International. The company is active in the aviation and aerospace industries and manufactures, among other communications, control and navigation systems for both civilian and military aviation. Among the customers of Rockwell Collins include many major international corporations such as Boeing and EADS.
History
Arthur Collins in 1933 founded the precursor, Collins Radio in Iowa. Collins made her radio and communications equipment, for example, the South Pole expeditions under Admiral Richard Byrd, and later for the U.S. space programs, Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. In 1973, finally, Rockwell International bought the company to them under the name of Rockwell Collins to outsource 2001.
Presence
Today, more than 10 years after the spin-off from Rockwell International, the company is active on all continents. The largest and most important site is still Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where there is also the headquarters of Rockwell Collins. The approximately 100 -acre area combines manufacturing, logistics warehouse, as well as a Center of Excellence for Research & Development and the head office. In the Americas alone Rockwell employs approximately 16,000 its workforce of more than 20,000 employees, including nearly 9,000 directly in Cedar Rapids. In addition to locations in the U.S. also operates offices and production facilities in Canada, Mexico and Brazil, with a total of around 1,000 employees.
The Europe, Middle East and Africa ( EMEA ) are led by Toulouse, France, from. Here is adjacent to the French headquarters and the EMEA headquarters. The location in Toulouse is the largest site of Rockwell Collins outside the U.S., followed closely by the German location in Heidelberg. From here, next to the German activities and locations in England, Sweden, Russia and the United Arab Emirates are directed. Overall, Rockwell worked in the EMEA region more than 2,500 employees and growing.
The APAC region (Asia - Pacific) is headquartered in Singapore. In addition to the local regional headquarters Rockwell has mainly sales and marketing offices in China, India and Australia with a total of more than 1,000 employees.
