The Rod Laver Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and the venue for the Australian Open. It is part of the sports facilities at Melbourne Park.

The hall was built in 1988 as part of the National Tennis Center and was first called Centre Court in 2000, it was renamed in honor of the famous Australian tennis player and two-time Grand Slam winner Rod Laver in Rod Laver Arena. It comprises a total of 14,820 seats and is visited annually by about 1.5 million viewers.

The range of events in the Rod Laver Arena ranges in addition to the Australian Open on Motocross events to music concerts or classical ballet. In 2005, the World Gymnastics Championships were held in the hall. At the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships in 2007, the arena was converted to the swimming stadium. For security reasons, the seating capacity was reduced from 14,820 to 11,270. The Arena is about 10 minutes walk from the city center.

The Rod Laver Arena is equipped with the Hawk - Eye system and also has a flexible roof that can be closed in case of rain or extreme heat within 25 minutes.
