Rod Piazza

Rod Piazza ( born December 18, 1947 Riverside, California) is an American blues harmonica player.

Life

First contact with the Blues he was already at the age of seven, when he heard the shots. 's Senior by 10 years or 12 years with brothers brought home ( Jimmy Reed, Big Joe Turner .... ) His first musical instrument was a $ 4 guitar that his mother bought him. In 1963 he received his first harmonica with which he nachspielte numbers of Slim Harpo, Buster Brown and Jimmy Reed, he heard on the radio.

Around 1965, he played in his first band, " The Mystics ", originally it was intended as a guitarist, but turned in the first samples out that there were others who played the guitar better. So he became as a harmonica player and singer band member. The group played at parties and went to Los Angeles, where they performed in the local club scene later. There they were discovered and taken in ABC Bluesway under contract. They called themselves " The Dirty Blues Band ". Unfortunately, some band members were drafted to Vietnam, and the band broke up.

With his new band Bacon Fat, he made ​​the acquaintance of George " Harmonica " Smith. Bacon Fat took 2 LP. From 1974 on, he worked solo, after which he founded the Chicago Flying Saucer band, from which emerged the Mighty Flyers. One of the founding members was Debra "Honey" Solum, whom he married a few years later. With the Mighty Flyers he is still on the go.
