The Unterrodach, to distinguish it from its left tributary, the savages Unterrodach, up to their confluence also called Tame Unterrodach, is a nearly 48 km long right tributary of the River Main in the western Franconian Forest. Not far away there is a tributary of the same name Itz.

Geography

Course

The Unterrodach rises to approximately 690 m above sea level. NN at Rodacherbrunn am Rennsteig in the Thuringian border area, flowing thence in a southerly direction and forms between the tributaries Franconian Muschwitz and Titschengrundbach to 1.5 km, the border between Bavaria and Thuringia. The Titschendorfer raft pond was in former times the starting point for rafts with which wood was transported from the Franconian Forest to the Netherlands. Just below Nordhalben takes Unterrodach from the right Ködel on that shortly before that feeds the drinking water reservoir toll house.

Later she turns to the southwest, flowing through the market towns stone meadows and Marktrodach, from the confluence of the savages Unterrodach at Erlabrück along the federal highway 173, and reached the city Kronach, where from the right Haßlach flows. Other places on the Unterrodach are Küps and Redwitz before it. Marktzeuln on at about 270 m above sea NN flows into the Main.
