Geography

Geographical location

Roden is between Aschaffenburg (52 km) and Würzburg (32 km) on the edge of the Spessart. After Karlstadt am Main ( county seat ) is 15 km and to Lohr am Main also. From the motorway A3 ( Frankfurt - Würzburg) Roden can be reached via exit Marktheidenfeld ( # 65 ). Then on to Marktheidenfeld, there on the Main Bridge and at the end of the bridge turn left towards Karlstadt am Main along. 7 km to Marktheidenfeld you reach Roden.

Roden is a forest- rich community (about 1000 ha ) at the transition between Spessart ( sandstone ) and Franconian plate ( shell ).

History

Roden was first mentioned in 1348 and was for centuries part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg. It fell in the kingdom in 1803 to the Counts Löwenstein -Wertheim - Rosenburg. Both belonged from 1500 to the Frankish Empire circle. 1806 Roden was part of belonging to Baden Mediatamtes Steinfeld, assigned again in 1816 to Austria. In Generalrezess of Frankfurt 1819 Roden came to Bavaria.

Incorporations

On June 1, 1976, until then independent municipality Ansbach was annexed.

The oak tree on the left side of the arms points to the forest wealth of the community, in the right half represents the coat of arms of the monastery Neustadt am Main the historical origin of the village dar.

Economy

Small businesses, and only a few farmers have little local jobs. The vast majority of the population commutes to Lohr, Marktheidenfeld or Würzburg to work.

  • Parish Church of St. Cyriacus in 1710 with a tower from the time of Julius Real ( tabernacle 16th century).
  • Significant Crucifixion of sandstone from the former monastery Neustadt am Main ( 1586) in the cemetery of the church.
