Rodenbach (Wapelbach)

The Rodenbach is an orographic right tributaries of Wapel in North Rhine -Westphalia, Germany, with a length of 12.5 km. During his entire course of Rodenbach flows primarily meadows, pasture and forest land.

River course

The Rodenbach rises in the Senne south of the village Stukenbrock. There, the nature reserve ( NSG) Wehrbachtal unite north two individual source streams after a few meters to a storage pond from which the Rodenbach forms as a drain. Then it flows towards the southwest at approximately parallel path to Wapel south of the town of Schloss Holte over and enters the territory of the Holter forest, its southern edge, it forms in the local area. The Rodenbach then flows to rural area by Liemke on Kaunitz. Northwest of Kaunitz and southeast of Bornholte in the NSG enters the waters a sea grass meadows. Finally Within this area, it flows into the Wapel.

The Rodenbach overcomes during its flow path a height difference of 59 meters, thus results in an average bed slope of 4.7 ‰.

Flora and Fauna

In the middle reaches of the presence of bullhead, brook lamprey and brook trout was confirmed. In the run up in the urban area Verl into bullhead could eg Sea grass meadows are confirmed in the amount of the NSG.
