Rodi (Prato Leventina)

Rodi- Fiesso is a village in the municipality of Prato Leventina in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. The village consists of two parts Fiesso and Rodi. Fiesso once housed one of the three Degagne the Vicinanza ( valley community ) of Prato. The other two were the Degagne of Prato and Dalpe from.

Rodi developed into a village inhabited until the late 19th century, when the Gotthard railway was built. Before there was only a swamp and some stables of owners from Fiesso and Prato.

Today Rodi is the capital of the municipality of Prato ( Leventina), and all public facilities such as school and community center are located there.

From Rodi from a cableway leads to lying at 1800 meters Tremorgio Lake in the Campolungo - area.

In the near Rodi- Fiesso located at the entrance of the gorge Piottino the Dazio Grande, an old customs house from the period in which the Leventina was dominated by Uri. The house was renovated in the 1990s and today includes a small hotel, a restaurant, a museum and various exhibition and meeting rooms.
