Rodnei Francisco de Lima ( born September 11, 1985 in São Paulo ), known as Rodnei, is a Brazilian footballer who is since 2012 in Austria with FC Red Bull Salzburg under contract.

Career

The central defender, who can also be used on the left and right of the back four, moved in April 2006 from his youth club Juventus CA to Lithuania to FC Vilnius. When he left the club in August 2007, the small Brazilian club Pão de Açúcar EC secured from Rio de Janeiro, the transfer rights to Rodnei, gave the player but to Poland Jagiellonia Białystok, where he played for half a year and its in every eleven missions in the starting state.

After he had turned his back on Poland in December, he completed a trial at Hertha BSC, where he knew how to please. An immediate obligation still did not materialize, so Rodnei returned to Brazil. After six months without a club, he was obligated by the Hertha formers for the season 2008/ 09, 200,000 € to Pão de Açúcar EC paid for the transfer of rights. Rodnei got a current contract until 2009, with a mutual option for two more years.

His league debut came on February 14, 2009 in a 2-1 home win against FC Bayern Munich, where he stood as a left-back in the starting lineup.

For the 2009/10 season Rodnei joined initially on loan for a year to the second division 1 FC Kaiserslautern. On 20 April 2010, the call option has been removed and Rodnei committed € 450,000. With the Palatines he rose in 2010 in the Bundesliga. In October 2010, he had to undergo a hernia operation, but had soon after recovery held back his place in central defense alongside Martin Amedick.

On August 31, 2012 Rodnei moved to Austria for FC Red Bull Salzburg.
