Rodney Atkins
Rodney Austin Atkins ( born March 28, 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee) is an American country music singer.
Career
It was only during his high school days Atkins began making music, but came relatively soon on in the vicinity. While a student at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, he always went back to Nashville and performed in the local country clubs. In 1997, he came to a record deal and began recording his debut album. But his first two releases flopped and even dissatisfied with the result delayed the completion of the album and was eventually abandoned altogether.
It then took until 2002 until Atkins made a second attempt. Although the next two singles and the album Honesty had only moderate success, but with the song Honesty ( Write Me a List), he then had a promising hit, which reached the country Top 5, and also on the Hot 100 went well.
With his second album If You're Going Through Hell he succeeded in 2006, the breakthrough. The album reached # 1 in the U.S. country charts and sold more than one million copies. Furthermore, were the first four singles all at # 1 on the country charts and also the first two reached gold ( for 500 000 copies sold). The Country Music Awards 2006, he was honored as Top New Male Artist.
Three years later the album It 's America, which was a great success and brought his fifth number -one hit with the title song appeared.
