Rodney Pattisson

Rodney Stuart Pattison or Pattisson ( born August 15, 1943 in Campbeltown, Argyll and Bute ) is a British sailor who won three Olympic medals to 1976 from 1968.

In the Olympic Regatta 1968, Acapulco reach Pattison and his bowman Iain MacDonald -Smith with the Flying Dutchman five days wins and a second place. So they won the gold sovereign before the German boat with Ullrich Libor and Peter Naumann. Before 1969 and 1970, Naples Adelaide won Pattison and MacDonald -Smith the world title. 1971 off La Rochelle Pattison won his third world title, this time with Julian Brooke- Houghton. 1968, 1970, 1972 and 1975 Pattison became European Champion with the Flying Dutchman.

In the Olympic Regatta in 1972 before keel Pattison was with Christopher Davies win won on four days and won his second gold medal from the French Yves and Marc Pajot and above Libor and Naumann. 1976 at the Olympic Regatta Kingston Pattison joined with Vorschoter Julian Brooke- Houghton. The two scored a victory in the championship they won silver behind German brothers Joerg and Eckart Diesch.

1976 Pattison was in the quarter- ton class World Champion, 1984 in Eintonnerklasse. 1983 Pattison was co-skipper of Peter de Savary in the America 's Cup.

After his Olympic victory in 1968 Pattison had given up his job in the British Navy and founded a yacht yard in Dorset. 1969 Pattison was awarded the Order MBE.
