Rodney Wilkes

Rodney Adolphus Wilkes ( born March 11, 1925 in San Fernando, † March 24, 2014 ) was a weightlifter from Trinidad and Tobago.

Career

Rodney Wilkes began in 1942 with the weightlifting and soon reached good results at the national level. His coaches were Seemungal and Lionel Freddy Mendes. In 1946 he represented Trinidad at the Central American Games in Barranquilla, where she won the featherweight with the then world-class performance of 312.5 kg in the Olympic triathlon. At the Olympic Games in 1948 and 1952, he won medals and reached 1956 in Melbourne again an excellent fourth place at featherweight. He could go between the Olympic Games in any World Cup at the start, as this invariably took place in Europe and it is the Weightlifting Federation of Trinidad could not afford to send athletes to these events. 1960 Rodney Wilkes finished his active career and worked as an electrician in his birthplace.

National Championships

Rodney Wilkes was much time champion of Trinidad in the spring and lightweight. He scored in the championships of 1953, a capacity of 300 kg and the championships of 1956 320 kg.
