Rodolfo Mederos

Rodolfo Mederos ( born March 25, 1940 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine bandoneon player in the tradition of Astor Piazzolla's Tango Nuevo.

Mederos studied biology at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. At the age of twenty years he founded the Octeto Guardia Nueva. With this group he had the opportunity to perform at a concert of Piazzolla as the opening act, and he decided to devote himself entirely to music. In 1966 his first album Buenos Aires ... al Rojo! . After a stay in Paris from 1967, he was from 1969 to 1974 member of the orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese, where he formed the group with bandoneon Arturo Penón, Daniel Binelli and Juan José Mosalini.

He then founded the group Generación Cero, with whom he published two albums 1976-77, which was followed by three solo albums (1978, 1983 and 1984). In 1984, Mederos the music school La Escuela de Música Popular and increasingly devoted himself to teaching. Nevertheless, published more of his albums, and 2000 Eterno Buenos Aires was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Tango Album and won the Premio Predel. Other nominations for the Latin Grammy winning 2001 tango ( with Nicolás Brizuela ) and 2007 with Comunidad. In addition, composed and performed Mederos since the 1980s numerous film scores.
