Roesler is a red grape variety. The name evokes Leonhard Roesler (1839-1910), who in the years 1874 to 1902 director of the KK Chemical and Physiological Research Station for Viticulture and Horticulture in the field of viticulture school Klosterneuburg.

Breeding, variety characteristics, admission

As with the Rathay is an interspecific new breed of 1970 by Gertrude Mayer at the wine school in Klosterneuburg. The Roesler is a new breed of Zweigelt and ( Seyve Villard 18-402 x Lemberger).

Characteristics of the wine

The Roesler is a red wine with distinct wild berry flavors. The intensely colored berries provide deep dark wines, they are extract - and full-bodied and have a high tannin content on.
