Roger Christian (filmmaker)

Roger Christian ( * 1944 in London, England ) is a British film director.

Life

Roger Christian began his career in the film business as an assistant art director and set decorator. 1977 was awarded for his work on Star Wars with the Oscar in the Best Art Direction - Set Decoration category. Two decades later he was for Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace worked as second-unit director.

His debut as a director, he was in 1979 with the short film Black Angel. His first feature film was followed three years later with Devilish signals.

He was best known for his film Battlefield Earth 2001 - awarded the fight to the ground with a Golden Raspberry as Worst Director. 2013 came under the direction of Christian science fiction film The Ark - We are not alone in the cinema.
