Roger III, Duke of Apulia

Roger III. (* 1118, † May 2, 1149 or 1148 ) from the house of Hauteville was the eldest son of King Roger II of Sicily and his first wife Elvira of Castile.

After the coronation of Roger II, King of Sicily, his son Roger in 1130 when Roger III was. appointed Duke of Apulia. He helped his father in the conquest of other areas in southern Italy and the deposition of a revolt under the Italian barons and cities 1139th

1139/40 married Roger III. Elizabeth of Blois, a daughter of the Count of Blois, Theobald IV. This marriage remained childless. Roger III. but had two illegitimate sons of a daughter of Count Accardus of Lecce, whose name is not recorded before his wedding. The eldest of these sons, Tancred of Lecce, was in 1190 elected. Than rival king to Constance of Sicily, a daughter of Roger II of the third marriage, and thus half-sister Rogers III.

Roger III. died on May 2, 1149 before the death of his father.
