Roger Kingdom

Roger Kingdom ( born August 26, 1962 in Vienna, Georgia ) is a former American track and field athlete. He was twice Olympic champion.

Kingdom was one of the strongest 110 -meter hurdles sprinter of the 1980s and 1990s. In his long career at world-class level, he won two Olympic gold medals in 1984 in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul. He became World Indoor Champion over 60m hurdles in 1989 in Budapest. At the Grand Prix meeting in Zurich he set a world record with 12.92 seconds, which was improved in 1993 by Colin Jackson at the World Championships in Stuttgart at 12.91 seconds. At the end of the season Kingdom was awarded the World Athlete of the Year in 1989. In 1992, he failed to qualify for the Olympic Games themselves. Three years later, he won the first time in outdoor World Championships medal, bronze at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg.

At a size of 1.85 meters Kingdoms competition weight was 91 kg.
