Roger Manderscheid

Roger Manderscheid ( born March 1, 1933, Izzy, Hesperingen, † June 1, 2010 ) was a Luxembourgian writer.

Career

Manderscheid visited from 1946 to 1952 the Athenaeum in Luxembourg and was then worked briefly as a teacher. From 1953 to 1956 he was a reserve officer of the Army, 1956-1973 railway official at the Ministry of Transport and 1977-1993 official at the Ministry of Culture. He was a member of the PEN center of Germany and until 1997 President of the Luxembourg Union of Writers (LSV ), since 1997 Honorary President.

Manderscheid wrote poems, plays, plays, short stories and novels in German and Luxembourgish.

His most famous work is a Luxembourg novel trilogy, the first volume, Schacko Klak, was filmed in 1989, directed by Frank Hoffmann and Paul Kieffer. In this book he tells how he felt the war years as a small boy. This was followed by De Parrot at Käschtebam with scenes from the post-war period as well as a celebration Flam.
