Roger Muraro

Roger Muraro ( born May 13, 1959 in Lyon ) is a French pianist and music teacher.

Muraro had in his childhood saxophone lessons. At the age of 11 years he came to the Conservatory of Lyon, where he switched to the piano. In 1977, he applied for admission to the Conservatoire de Paris, but was not the entrance exam. However, Yvonne Loriod, the wife of Olivier Messiaen was aware of him, which took him in 1978 in her class at the Conservatoire. In addition, he took piano lessons with Eliane Richepin who introduced him to the romantic piano repertoire.

In 1980, Muraro his first public appearance as a pianist in Lyon. In 1986, he won the fourth place at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 1988 he first played Messiaen's Vingt Regards de l' Enfant Jésus. In addition to Messiaen, whose entire piano works he recorded, are composers such as Mozart, Chopin, Mussorgsky, Debussy and Albéniz in his repertoire.
