Roger Reynolds

Roger Reynolds ( born July 18, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American composer.

Reynolds studied at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor physics and composition. He completed his training at the Electronic Studio of the Cologne University of Music ( 1962-63 ) in Paris and Italy. In 1969 he became a lecturer at the University of California in San Diego. For the 1988 resulting work Whispers Out of Time, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

In addition to orchestral works, piano pieces, a cantata and choral works Reynolds composed works in chamber music ensembles, which he often uses electronic instruments, computers and tapes. In addition, he also appeared as an author produced music theory writings.
