Roger Van Gool

Roger Van Gool ( born June 1, 1950 in Nieuwmoer ) is a retired Belgian footballer.

Roger Van Gool went down in the history of the Bundesliga as the first " million " shopping. He moved in 1976 for one million DM from FC Bruges 1 FC Cologne. The transfer was also a sensation, since the FC Bruges was at that time as a top European club. The dribbling strong right winger was immediately crowd in Cologne and had to 1980 96 Bundesliga appearances in which he scored 28 goals. These years were also the most successful period of the Cologne club. Under coach Hennes Weisweiler Van Gool belonged to the tribe of that team, which in 1978 became German champion and twice DFB Cup winner and 1979 reached the semi-finals in the European Champions Cup against Nottingham Forest.
