Roger Walkowiak

Roger Walkowiak ( born March 2, 1927 in Montlucon ) is a former French cyclist.

In 1956 he won the Tour de France sensational. The passable climber had taken over the yellow jersey during a mass exodus to the 7th stage and initially worn for three days. In the 18th stage, he conquered the jersey back and defended the lead up to Paris, without winning a single stage. This success could Walkowiak at other races never confirm.
