Rogers Communications Inc. is a Canadian telecommunications companies and service providers with headquarters in Toronto. The company is listed on the stock index S & P / TSX 60. The company is divided into three areas: Rogers Wireless, Rogers Cable and Rogers Media. The core area includes the television and telecommunications industry.

History

The former chairman of the company Edward Samuel Rogers founded the company in 1920 and was among the five richest people in Canada. 1931 Edwar S. Rogers received experimentally the license to broadcast television programs. On May 6, 1939 Edward S. Rogers died suddenly, leaving behind his wife and five year old son Edward ( Ted Rogers ).

1960

During the study period founded Edward ( Ted Rogers ) his first radio station Roger Radio Broadcasting Limited, which was known to the population as CHI - FM. In 1962 he introduced the stereo end operation and founded another channel CFTR in Toronto.

1970

In the seventies the company Roger Cable Television was among the most innovative on the Canadian television and radio market. The company allowed the reception of twelve stations; and the reception of international channels was possible.

1980

The company entered the mobile market in 1985 and entertained a mobile network.

2000

It is since 1 September 2000, a partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. In 2005, the Company also acquired the home stadium of the club and renamed it Rogers Centre.

Is the largest cable television network operators in Canada with approximately 2.3 million subscribers in southern Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador. The company modernized its networks and offers HD TV channels, video on demand services and Internet access to via TV cable network.

Is one of the largest phone providers in the Canadian market. Landlines and VoIP services.

Rogers Wireless

Is the largest mobile operator in Canada with approximately 7.1 million customers.

Rogers Media / Publishing / Broadcasting

Rogers Media is Canada's largest media and publishing companies. It publishes 70 consumer and business magazines (in English and French) and has 51 radio stations and TV stations such as: OMNI, Citytv, Sportsnet, OLN, G4Tech, The Shopping Channel and local stations as Rogers TV.
