Rogožarski

Rogožarski ( Serbian Cyrillic Рогожарски ) was a company in the aviation industry of Yugoslavia. The company was founded by Živojin Rogožarski the first Serbian factory for aircraft Rogožarski ( Prva srpska fabrika aeroplana Rogožarski, Прва српска фабрика аероплана Рогожарски ) on 21 April 1924 in Belgrade.

History

1923, the Yugoslav Ministry of the Army and Navy conducted a public tender for domestic companies, where the construction of aircraft could be entrusted with government support. From choosing two small private companies emerged in Novi Sad and Belgrade Rogožarski with Icarus. Rogožarski was originally a carpentry company without a great reputation, but the hope was given that production could be organized by aircraft - also because Živojin Rogožarski had been employed as an aircraft masters in Budapest during World War II.

The first model was the Brandenburg with 100 -horsepower Daimler- Benz engines, which were delivered until 1925. Until 1928, followed by a series of 60 SB-1, called Mean Brandenburg, with 160 - and 185 -horsepower Daimler- Benz engines. First domestic models were the Fizir - Maibach developed by Fizir with 250 - horsepower engines and Fizir -Wright with 220 hp engines. The first own model was the coach A.Ž.R with 240 hp engines of Walter Engines as and a top speed of 240 km / hr, which was however rejected by the Yugoslav Air Force because of control problems. Lack of jobs, investment in new models and high debt brought Rogožarski into bankruptcy, but the company in 1934 was converted into a public limited company and thus saved. This was followed by new models that had more success, including the P-100, PHE, IK -3 or the promising R- 313.

At the outbreak of World War II Rogožarski had approximately 1,000 employees. After the war, the remnants of the company were in common with the opponents Icarus to the State Aircraft Factory ( Fabrika Drzavna Aviona ) together (under the domain of Icarus ). With the relocation of the State Aircraft Factory after Soko Mostar ended aircraft production of Rogožarski, the State Aircraft Factory itself was transformed into the bus manufacturer Ikarbus in Novi Sad.
