Rogozhskoye Cemetery

The Rogoschskoje Cemetery (Russian Рогожское кладбище ) is a cemetery in the east of Moscow. He is the religious and administrative center of the largest religious community of Old Believers in Russia, the Russian Orthodox Church Altritualistischen. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church Altritualistischen, the Metropolitan of Moscow and All Russia has its headquarters on the Rogoschskoje Cemetery.

History

1771, under Catherine II, the Old Believers in Moscow a plot was allocated prior to the Rogoschskaja - gate. Description

On the Rogoschskoje Cemetery is the Rogoschskoje Clock Tower was built in the years 1907-1913 as a memorial to the unsealing of the altars of the cemetery, designed by the Russian architect Fyodor Fyodorovich Gornostajew. The summer church of Intercession was built in 1790-1792 years, according to the plans of the architect Matvei Kazakov.

The Birth of Christ Church was built in 1804 in neo-baroque style and is used as a winter church.

The Old Believers merchant's son Parfyon Semjonowitsch Rogozhin from the novel " The Idiot" by Dostoevsky got its name based on the name of the Rogoschskoje Cemetery.
