Rogue Traders

The Rogue Traders are an Australian dance band.

History

The two founding members James Ash and Steve Davis met in London in 1989 and worked together on many projects, including as a Union State Dance Project. In 2002, the duo rogue trader named after the eponymous film ( German title for the Money - The Nick Leeson Story).

From single to single, they increased gradually their fame in Australia and with their third single One Of My Kind them the breakthrough. This cover version of INXS classic Need You Tonight reached the Australian top 10 and was named the best dance track of the year.

The end of 2004 came Natalie Bassingthwaighte as a singer for the band. Natalie B was successfully completed in 2003 as an actress in the Australian soap opera Neighbours duration ( Neighbours ). In addition to keyboardist James Ash now also included guitarist Timothy Henwood and drummer Cameron McGlinchey about the band, while Steve Davis was most active only in the background.

With new members in 2005 their second album Here Come The Drums. With the first three single releases, the Rogue Traders reached the Australian top 10, the album went triple platinum.

Encouraged by the success of the plan was the international career of the band, the Natalie B even stopped its TV career in 2006. The first single release was its most successful to date number Voodoo Child, which reached # 4 and platinum status in Australia. In England, where Natalie B was known by the neighbors series already, ran video and single already weeks before the official release very well and in the second chart week, the song reached number 3 in the UK charts. In November 2006, Voodoo Child and the album Here Come The Drums were also published in Germany, but it did not reach the charts due to lack of promotion and lack of media support.

On 24 June 2008, the Rogue Traders announced that Natalie Bassingthwaighte will be leaving the band with immediate effect. Since they in the autumn of the same year, a new season of the ten series "So you think you can dance " turned and recorded an album, no longer was enough time to remain in the band. Similarly, the departure of drummer Cameron McGlinchey was announced, which together with Bassingthwaighte.

With a new front woman ( Melinda ' Mindi ' Jackson) and modified line-up in 2009 produced a new, fourth album.
