Roisel

Roisel is a commune in the Somme department in the northern French region of Picardie with 1756 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It lies on the river Cologne.

Attractions

  • The church Saint -Martin was restored after the complete destruction of the First World War by the architect Louis Faille in 1926 and rebuilt. In the tympanum of a statue of St. Martin of the sculptor Maurice Guiraud -Rivière is seen.
  • This also completely destroyed the town hall was designed by architect Maurice Lucet newly built in 1926 not far from the original location.
  • The War Memorial ( Monument aux morts ) is located behind the church and contains the names of the fallen of the place.

Infrastructure

In Roisel a kindergarten and a primary school there. The former railway station of Roisel station was the Paris- Nord - Cambrai via Creil and Montdidier. The group Espace Jeunesse et Nature has there now set up a youth guest house with 14 rooms.
