Roland Gunesch

Roland Gunesch ( born March 25, 1944 in Daia ) is a former Romanian handball player from the German-speaking minority of the Transylvanian Saxons.

Life

His talent for handball was discovered by Hans Zultner, his sports teacher at the college in Sighişoara. After Roland Gunesch in 1964 succeeded his degree, he played for 19 years for Politehnica Timişoara.

From 1970 Gunesch played in the Romanian handball team which won the gold medal at each of the Handball World Championships 1970 and 1974. At the Olympic Games in 1972 Roland Gunesch won the bronze medal with the Romanian team. In six games Roland Gunesch knocking nine goals. In 1976 he won the silver medal as part of the Romanian team. He was employed in three encounters.

1983 ended Gunesch his active career, but remained eight years to 1991 as Vice - coach at Politehnica Timişoara. Since 1991 he lives in Nuremberg.
