Roland Scholten

Roland Scholten ( born January 11, 1965 in The Hague) is a Dutch darts player, nicknamed "Tripod " ( German: tripod). This nickname was given Scholten its rigid stance when throwing the darts.

Career

For Darts came Scholten age of 17, when he began to dispute in the local his father's games on a Steeldartboard.

In 1997, he won together with his Dutch partner Raymond van Barneveld PDC World Pairs Darts Championship. He now plays for the Professional Darts Corporation ( PDC) after 2001 helped decided to pursue the sport of darts full-time. Scholten was previously publican.

His only major title at the " Professional Darts Corporation ", he won at the 2004 UK Open against John Part 11-6 points.

In the last four years he has slipped in the rankings due to shoulder problems. Most recently, he even had to have surgery, which meant that he had to pause for a while and was therefore excreted in the world rankings of the top -32. Thus it is no longer automatically qualifies for the major PDC tournaments. He is currently ranked No. 80 in the Order of Merit.

On the side of Elmar Paulke Scholten also works for Sport 1 as darts commentator. Here Scholten has gained through its grammatical often false statements and by its striking intonation a cult status with some German Dartfans. In tournaments where Scholten even play along, he rises often after leaving in the commentary team of Sport 1 a - for example during the World Matchplay, European Darts Championship 2010 and the PDC World Darts Championship 2011, where he as a player in the first round against Ronnie Baxter retired. Also Scholten has been for the Dutch and British television in use.
