Rolanet

Rolanet ( Robotron Local Area Network) was developed in the GDR and in 1987 published network standard, with the computer in the local area (LAN, up to 1000 m ) could be connected for data exchange. The transmission medium is coaxial cable or (from 1988 ) was also used fiber optic cable. Even mixed networks ( data conversion coaxial cable - Glass fiber) were possible. The rate was a good value with 500 kBaud for that time. Under Rolanet maximum of 253 computers could be connected.
