Rolf Brem

Rolf Brem ( born February 12, 1926 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss sculptor, draftsman and printmaker innovative curtain on Lake Lucerne.

Brem attended from 1945 to 1948, the sculpture class at the School of Art Lucerne and worked 1948-1957 with interruptions in the studio of sculptor Karl Geiser Zurich, who influenced him greatly by its own account, and in a separate compartment in Lucerne. After visiting the Paris Académie de la Grande Chaumiere 1951 to 1953 was followed in 1954 and 1955 together with his wife Françoise, a stay at the Istituto Svizzero in Rome.

After Geiser death in 1957 Brem taught next to the Villa St. Charles Hall in Meggen own studio one. A second studio he opened in 1972 in Morbio Superiore in Ticino.

Brake figurative depictions of humans and animals can be found in many cities in Switzerland, so in Lucerne and on the Fridolinsbrücke. An impressive collection of his portrait heads can be seen in the parish hall of Meggen. 1992 Brem was represented at the World Expo in Seville with 136 portrait heads, composed by Harald Szeemann to an installation.

In 2011 he was awarded the community Meggen honorary citizenship.
