Rolf-Dieter Postlep

Rolf -Dieter Postlep ( born March 17, 1946 in Wolfsburg ) is a German economist who serves as president of the University of Kassel since 2000.

Training

His high school did Rolf -Dieter Postlep 1965 at Ratsgymnasium in Wolfsburg. He then trained as a banker at the Frankfurt bank in Hesse Frankfurt am Main. In 1969 he took up studies in economics at the University of Marburg, where he graduated in 1973 with a degree in economics.

Science

After completing his studies, he participated in the Philipps University in Marburg in 1974 to work as a research assistant in the Department of Economics, there in the Department of Finance, on. In 1978 he received his doctorate in Marburg Dr. rer. pol. Until 1984 he worked as a research assistant. From 1985, he then worked as a Lecturer. From 1994 to 1999 he was Head of Department at DIW in Berlin. During this time he worked as a lecturer at the University of Potsdam. Since September 2000 Postlep is the successor of Hans Brinckmann President of the University of Kassel. He beat out two competitors. In February 2006, he was elected for a second, also six-year term of office.

On February 1, 2012 Postlep was again confirmed for six years in office. In February 2014, the German Association of University Professors released a ranking in which Postlep was elected the sixth- best president of a German university. Postlep is also since October 1, 2012 Speaker of the Conference of Hessian university councils. In this capacity, he is particularly committed to generate reasonable basic funding of the Hessian universities.

Postlep is a member of the Broadcasting Hessischer Rundfunk, the Advisory Board of Kassel Savings Bank, Chairman of the Trustees of the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt and Vice- President of the Academy for Spatial Research and Planning (ARL ).
