Rolf Kinzl

Rolf Kinzl (* October 19, 1878 in Prague, † November 14, 1938 in Vienna) was around the turn of the century in 1900 one of Austria's best tennis players.

Life

Kinzl won the 1898 Championship of Bohemia. In 1903 he reached the semi-finals at the German championships, but it lost to Josiah Ritchie. In 1905 Kinzl at the Davis Cup match between the teams of Australia Sien (Australia and New Zealand) and Austria part, but lost both single and the double on the side of Kurt Wessely. At the 1907 Wimbledon Championships he reached his best result with the third round.

Kinzl also played in the grass tournament of the 1908 Olympic Games in London, but was defeated in the first round of the British Wilberforce Eaves. Until 1927 he took part in tournaments.

Kinzl played football and was also next to center forward of the DFC Prague. Later he worked as chief editor of the Wiener Sport - Tageblatt. He died at the age of 60 years to a heart attack.
