Rolf Rodenstock

Rolf Rodenstock (* July 1, 1917 in Munich, † February 6, 1997 ) was a German economist, head of the family company Rodenstock and industrialist.

Life

The son of the entrepreneur Alexander Rodenstock studied from 1940 business administration at the Technical University of Munich, this had to pause several times but because of the participation in the Second World War. After graduating as Diplom-Kaufmann took place in 1944, the Dr. rer pol.

In 1947 he qualified as a professor in Munich with the work, the accuracy of cost accounting of industrial enterprises and became private. From 1956 until the beginning of the 1980s he was a professor of business organization, accounting, and industrial techno-economic rationalization at the Technical University of Munich.

In 1943 he became head of the Department of Management at the optical works G. Rodenstock in Munich. In 1946 he became a member of the Board in his father's company. 1953, after the death of his father, he took over the direction of the optical works as General Partner.

Under his leadership, the company became one of the leading manufacturers of ophthalmic lenses, spectacle frames and precision optics in Europe. In 1983 he shared the company's management with his son Randolf Rodenstock, who in 1990 took over the operational management alone. Rolf Rodenstock remained shareholders.

He was co-founder in 1947 of the Professional Association precision engineering and optometry and until 1964 its chairman. Since 1949 he was a member of the Presidium of the National Association of Bavarian industry and led it from 1955 until 1977. Since 1952 he was a board member of the Federation of German Industry ( BDI ) in September 1978 to the end of 1984, its President.

From 1966 to 1978 he was president of the Institute of the German Economy in Cologne. In 1971 he became Vice- President of the Federation of Employers in Bavaria.

On July 3, 1959 - he had just turned 42 years old - the Bavarian Order of Merit was awarded to him. The honorary citizenship of the city of rain was awarded to him on 24 February 1977.

His marriage to Inge Rodenstock (* 1936) their son Benedict Rodenstock dates (* 1970).
