Rolf Sackenheim

Rolf Sackville ( born September 26, 1921 in Koblenz, † January 9, 2006 in Dusseldorf ) was a German artist and printmaker.

Life and work

Sackheim studied art from 1940 to the Master School of the German Trade in Trier. The following year he was drafted, but was released due to a serious injury in 1942. In 1943 he began studying art in Karlsruhe, which he continued from 1947 after a two year hiatus until 1950 when The artist was. In 1950 he moved to the Eifel, watercolor, signed and developed theoretical insights into the painting. Two years later he went to the Art Academy in Dusseldorf, where he masters student of Otto Coester was in the same year.

From 1960 he was a guest lecturer at the Art School in Krefeld. In 1963 he was a lecturer at the Dusseldorf Art Academy, where he later received the title of professor and head of a class of printmaking was. From 1969-1970 and from 1972-1976, he also served as deputy director of the Academy of Arts. In 1984 he retired. He also became an honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts Münster.

Since then he has lived as a painter in Dusseldorf. His paintings, etchings and prints have been shown in several exhibitions - both already in 1959 at the documenta II in Kassel as well as in solo exhibitions (including in Dusseldorf ).
