Rolf Schult

Rolf Schult ( born April 16, 1927 in Berlin, † March 13, 2013 in Horhausen ) was a German actor and was one of the most prominent German voice actors. He gained particular notoriety as a spokesman for Robert Redford, Anthony Hopkins ( The Silence of the Lambs) and Patrick Stewart (Star Trek - The Next Generation). He attracted attention as a first person narrator of the German dubbed version of the classic horror dance of the vampires from the year 1967.

Life and work

Schult was trained at drama school in Hanover and the Academy of Music and Theatre. After his theater debut in the 1959 ibid awarded the Prize of North Rhine- Westphalia actor engagements led initially to Bochum and Cologne, and finally at the Schiller Theater in Berlin, where he remained for many years. 1970 Schult was named Berlin State actor. Last Rolf Schult had retired a few exceptions ( esp. Robert Redford ) from synchronizing.

His son, Christian Schult, whose voice has a similar timbre, is also active as a voice actor. Schult's cousin is the actor and voice actor Peer Augustinski. Together with his colleague Jürgen Thormann Rolf Schult received the 2007 German Prize for synchronous for his outstanding oeuvre in the synchronous work.

In 2007, was an American supervisor after Schult had already synchronized the trailer for Redford's latest film, his voice too deep, so that Robert Redford was synchronized in Lions for Lambs by Kaspar Eichel.
