Rolland-Pilain

The SA of the Établissements Rolland - Pilain was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

François Rolland (1859-1927) was a wealthy wine merchant. Pilain Émile (1880-1958) was a technician and the nephew of François Pilain, Automobiles Pilain initiated. Together they founded in November 1905, the company in Tours. 1906 or 1907 began production of automobiles. The brand name was Rolland - Pilain. 1931 production ended.

Rolling stock

The first model 20 CV had a four cylinder engine with 2200 cc capacity. In 1909 the model 8/10 CV 1500 cc. In 1912 came the Model 9 CV 1700 cc. 1913 focused on the four-cylinder models 20 CV and 24 CV and the new six-cylinder model 18 CV with valveless engine on offer. 1914 published two four-cylinder models with valveless engines and engine capacity of 1900 cc and 4000 cc.

After the First World War, the latter two four-cylinder models were the basis of the offer, this came in 1921, the model 14/16 CV 2200 cc. In 1925 a new four-cylinder model with 2000 cc, and 1927 the Model D 26 with 1500 cc capacity. Published in 1929 large models with Continental built-in motors with six cylinders, 3000 cc displacement and eight cylinders, 4000 cc displacement.
