Rollie Free

Roland " Rollie " Free ( born November 11, 1900 in Chicago, † October 11, 1984 in Los Angeles ) was an American motorcycle racer.

He was known for his former American motorcycle speed record in 1948 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. He reached only in bathing suits lying flat on a Vincent, a speed of 150.313 miles per hour. The rate was comparable to the motorcycle world record of 150.65 miles per hour, which was achieved in 1930 in Ireland, was in the meantime but surpassed outside the United States.

Rollie Free was founded in 1990, was added to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame posthumously in 1998.
