Rollins Band

Rollins Band is a company established in 1986 by Henry Rollins American rock music group. Other founding members were Chris Haskett, Andrew Weiss and Sim Cain.

History

Rollins was initially singer of the band Black Flag. When they broke apart in the spring of 1986, Rollins gathered some musicians around him and released two albums with them: Hot Animal Machine (as Henry Rollins ) and drive-by shootings (as Henrietta Collins and the Wifebeating Childhaters ). The musical style was similar to that of Black Flag, but flirted with metal and jazz.

Shortly thereafter, Rollins founded the Rollins Band with Haskett, White (bass ) and Cain ( drums). The band was often in the studio and on tour and quickly gained popularity - which was due in part to the community of fans of Black Flag. In 1990, the band had released four albums.

Then he recognized the importance of the band for the establishment of alternative rock, Perry Farrell invited them to the first Lollapalooza tour in 1991. In 1992, Rollins Band released the album The End of Silence. The Singles Low Self Opinion and tearing were played on MTV, which gave more attention to the band. Slowly, the band left their original style, looked around in the field of jazz, rock and developed a unique jazz - metal sound.

White was fired after the End of Silence tour, he was replaced by jazz bassist Melvin Gibbs function. More studio visits and tours followed, was published in 1994 and 1997 Weight Come In and Burn. The video of Liar, the first single by weight, was very successful - in the video was wearing Rollins different costumes, including that of a policeman and a nun. Nevertheless, the band entered a period of stagnation and dissolved in 1997.

After some time, Rollins Haskett, Gibbs and Cain replaced with members of the band Mother Superior, but it remained in the name of Rollins Band. As of 2000, followed by the publication of Get Some Go Again and Nice, as well as the live album The Only Way to Know for Sure.

Published in 2002, the Rollins Band Rise Above: 24 Black Flag Songs to Benefit the West Memphis Three. On the album with cover versions of Black Flag songs the band Lemmy, Corey Taylor, Ice-T, Tom Araya and other guest stars will be accompanied.

In April 2006, the band reunited in the old cast Rollins, Cain, Gibbs, Haskett. With this also the longtime soundman Theo Van Rock Henry Rollins is always referred to as a full member of the band. From late July to early September of the same year, the Rollins Band went on a joint U.S. tour with the band X.
