Analysis

The Fantasy Film provides children a differentiated picture of the world. Good and evil are clearly distributed initially typical for the genre. The trolls are the bad guys, and the elves are the good guys. However, the role model for the children, the troll Rollo, shows both sides. By rebelling against the seeming ultimately irrefutable traditions of his people, he shows that each has the power to change things.

Just because the figure of identification is not only good, children learn that all people, both sides carry in them. And that is important in life to the personal decision of how to develop themselves.

Awards

Rollo and the elves won the 2001 three Finnish Jussi Awards. As best film, for the best costumes, and for the best decorations.
