Rollo Carpenter

Rollo Carpenter (born 1965 ) is a British computer scientist and the author of Jabberwacky and Cleverbot, two based on artificial intelligence software systems. Carpenter served as CTO of a specialized enterprise software Neuunternehmens in Silicon Valley. He returned, however, returned to the UK to work with Icogno.

As the Managing Director of the Company Existor Ltd.. Carpenter developed artificial intelligence -based products for entertainment, " interpersonal " relationships, communication and education. His AI products George and Joan won the 2005 and 2006 Loebner Prize. In 2010, Carpenter won the award for the British Computer Society 's Machine Intelligence Competition.

Cleverbot is a learning and entertaining artificial intelligence that took part along with real people in a formal Turing test at Techniche Festival 2011 at the Indian Institute IIT Guwahati on September 3. The results from 1334 votes were announced on September 4. Cleverbot was declared to 59.3 % as a human, which exceeded all expectations. The human competitors by contrast, made only 63.3%. "What quite surprising result. Even higher than even I would have expected or even dreamed of, "said the British computer scientist Rollo Carpenter during a lecture at the Technical Festival. " Yesterday's results exceeded 50%, and one might think that Cleverbot has passed the Turing test here at the Techniche 2011." The way in which the volunteers were talking during both tests was described as cheerful chatting and to the public have a good laugh.

In neither test was attempted by analytical thinking or a strategy or a confrontation with complex questions " crack" the Cleverbot to. One company based on such questions " cross-examination " would therefore produce a completely different result.

While working on the refinement of Cleverbots, but it is clearly apparent that it is not able to complex logic to operate. Currently, he is only able to mimic human conversations.

The claim that this obstacle could be overcome upset, currently on an endless debate.

Cleverbot reached in a Turing test, which was performed at the Techniche 2011, almost a status of " chatty participants", which means " talkative participants ".

Rollo is the brother of the artist Merlin Carpenter.
