Rolls-Royce-Museum

The Rolls- Royce Museum in the plot Gütle in the municipality of Dornbirn in Vorarlberg is the largest, the Rolls-Royce brand concerned museum in the world.

Origin of the Collection

Born in St. Gallen church in Montafon Franz Vonier founded in 1968 in Cluj, a Rolls-Royce repair shop and built a collection on vehicles from 1923 to 1939.

1999, this automobile collection of Vonier family made ​​generally available with the opening of the museum.

The extent and focus of the collection

The museum is situated next to around 100 Rolls- Royce vehicles as original exhibits and hundreds of original components and accessories, pictures and literature. The vehicles are mostly roadworthy and (limited) used as loans to special events and trips. The repair shop is accessible by guided tour.

A particular focus of the museum management also lies in the fully documented history of each vehicle and display.

First exhibition level

In the first exhibition level (ground floor ) to RR models is in various stages of restoration, as well as a part of the original Royce production plant in Cooke Street in Manchester, England (acting workshop ), and the museum's reconstruction and restoration workshop.

On the second exhibition level (first floor) are Rolls- Royce motor cars of famous personalities ( Hall of Fame ), such as:

On the third exhibition level (second floor) you will find motorcycles, hundreds of small and items, a TeaRoom ( hosted ) with genuine period furniture and fine china as well as many more for Accessories with flair and lifestyle of the 1920s and 1930s.

Museum building

The building, the former spinning mill of FM Hämmerle is located near the entrance to Rappenlochschlucht, at the foot of Dornbirn local mountain carts. The museum is housed distributed in the 1992 disused mill building from 1862 over three floors.

In this area was once taken by Emperor Franz Josef in 1881 the first phone of the Austro -Hungarian monarchy in operation.
