Rolodex

As Rolodex (also Rolodex, rotation index ) is an apparatus referred to, in which a plurality of tabs mounted on a rotatable axis. It is used for time-and space-saving Browse in the search for an entry. The device was developed by Arnold Neustadter 1958.

The lookup is facilitated by Reiter, separate the possible equal sections of the sorted index cards. The tabs are labeled for this purpose with the common prefix of a section.

A paperless equivalent is the Taipudex method to look up an entry. This, not a copy of a sought entry in an input field has to be generated as in the mechanical model.
