Romain Barras

Romain Barras ( born August 1, 1980 in Calais ) is a French decathlete. It was 2010 in Barcelona European champions.

Career

Barras 2001 reached a fourth place finish at the U23 European Championships and a fifth place finish at the Universiade. 2003 surpassed Barras in three competitions, the 8000 -point mark, his previously best decathlon he graduated as winner of the 2003 Universiade in Daegu with 8196 points. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 he reached 8067 points, finishing in 13th place.

2005 Barras participated in five ten fights and excelled in all the 8,000 -point mark. In Angers, he was champion of France for the first time. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005, he was awarded 8087 points in seventh. 2006 won Barras at the European Cup of Mehrkämpfer before Attila Zsivóczky in Arles. At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006, he finished with 8093 points in eighth place.

2007 Barras was at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 5883 points, sixth in the heptathlon. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he finished with 8262 points in seventh place. In Beijing at the Olympic Games in 2008 he reached 8253 points and fifth place. According to a twelfth place with 8204 points at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin in June 2010, he improved his best performance of 8313 points. At the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona, he led before the final 1500 -meter run with five points ahead of Dutchman Eelco Sintnicolaas. Sintnicolaas ran during the entire run directly behind Barras, in the final sprint to the finish line Barras took out nearly two seconds ahead and was awarded 8453 points champions.

At a height of 1.93 m his competition weight is 84 kg.
