Romainville
Romain Ville is a commune with 25,512 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- Saint- Denis, Ile- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Bobigny and Canton Romain Ville. The city is located eight kilometers east of Paris on the eastern slopes of the hill of Belleville.

History
The place is attested in the 7th century by a will. The name comes from " Romana villa " Villa of Romanus, Bishop of Meaux. In 1630, Nicolas de Quelen had built the castle, which came into the possession of the marshal Ségur 1723. The forts of Romainville and Noisy- le -Sec (which is in the field of Romain Ville ) were currently Adolphe Thiers built.
1867, the municipality of Les Lilas was separated by Romain Ville. The Fort Romainville was used in World War II as a prison and concentration camp transit camp. The TV Tower Romain Ville was built in 1984.
