Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Aparecida

The Archdiocese of Aparecida (Latin: Archidioecesis Apparitiopolitanus ) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Aparecida in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

Since a Marian apparition in 1717 and currently almost 8 million annual pilgrims, the city of Aparecida is the most important place of pilgrimage in Brazil.

On April 19, 1958, Pope Pius XII. by the bull Sacrorum antistitum Aparecida archdiocese and thus confirms the crucial importance of the city for Catholic Brazil. The new diocese was awarded territories of the Archdiocese of São Paulo and the Diocese Taubaté.
