Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bahía Blanca

Located in Argentina Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bahía Blanca (Latin: sine Archidioecesis Albi) was separated on 20 April 1934 by the Diocese of La Plata, where it was a suffragan. It has its headquarters in Bahia Blanca.

In 1950, there were 500,000 Catholics in the Archdiocese ( 89.3%) in 47 parishes with 51 diocesan priests, 46 religious priests and 280 nuns. On February 11, 1957 esverschiedene territory ceded to the founding of the dioceses of Mar del Plata and Santa Rosa.

Now even 82,634 km ² large diocese was raised on 11 February 1957 to the archdiocese and metropolitans of the dioceses Alto Valle del Río Negro, Comodoro Rivadavia, Río Gallegos, San Carlos de Bariloche, Santa Rosa and Viedma.

The cathedral bears the title of Nuestra Señora de la Mercedes.

Within the diocese there is a contemplative convent, 43 branches of women religious and 19 offices of various religious men.
