Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar

The Archdiocese of Cuttack -Bhubaneswar (Latin: Archidioecesis Cuttackensis - Bhubanesvarensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Cuttack.

History

The Archdiocese of Cuttack -Bhubaneswar was born on July 18, 1928 by Pope Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolatus officium of cessions of territory of the diocese Vizagapatam as a mission sui juris Cuttack built. On 1 June 1937, the mission was sui juris Cuttack by Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Si catholicum nomen to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Ranchi is a suffragan. The diocese of Cuttack was on January 24, 1974 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Berhampur.

On January 24, 1974, the diocese of Cuttack was by Pope Paul VI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quamvis munus to the archbishopric and renamed Archdiocese of Cuttack -Bhubaneswar.

The Archdiocese of Cuttack -Bhubaneswar comprises the districts of Kandhamal, Cuttack and Puri in the state of Odisha.
